Join KAAN from June 21 – 23 for three days of keynotes, films, presentations, roundtables, performers, exhibits, support forums, and life-changing community. KAAN offers an Adoptee-Only track, as well as sessions for a general audience that are open to all. There are programs for adults aged 18+ and youth aged 8-17. Everyone is welcome, including adoptees, birth families, family members (adoptive parents, spouses/partners, siblings, and children of adoptees), service providers, and Korean Americans. Dr. SunAh Laybourn

SunAh M Laybourn, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Memphis, an Affiliate Faculty Member for the Center for Workplace Diversity & Inclusion, Affiliate Faculty Member in the International and Global Studies Department, and a former Academic Research Fellow of the Benjamin L. Hooks Institute for Social Change. She is the author of Out of Place: The Lives of Korean Adoptee Immigrants (NYU Press, 2024). She is the organizer of Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month Memphis, which in 2023 became Memphis’s first month-long celebration of the heritage month. She also hosts WYXR 91.7FM’s Let’s Grab Coffee, a weekly radio show featuring experts from around the world, who are investigating our most pressing social issues and common curiosities. SunAh is also a member of the KAAN Leadership Team, serving as Conference Co-Chair.
